Former Parkland High School student-athlete Owen Thomas found dead in off-campus apartment
University of Pennsylvania officials say a Penn football player from the Lehigh Valley has been found dead in his off-campus residence.
University spokeswoman Lori Doyle says quakers captain was found dead at 2 this afternoon. She says the cause of death has not been determined but “no foul play is suspected.”
Thomas, of Allentown, graduated from Parkland High School, where he was a three-year letter-winner and captain for two years, according to the team handbook. His older brother, Matt, was also a member of Penn’s football team and graduated in 2002.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive end was voted one of
s earlier this month.
He was a second-team All-Ivy player in 2009, starting all 10 Penn games, recording 29 tackles and finishing second in the league with six sacks.
