Detroit Millionaire Charged With Murder In Female Friend’s Death

The son of Detroit’s Powerhouse Gyms founder surrenders at his attorney’s office for the death of his 23-year-old friend in March.

A millionaire murder suspect has turned himself in to police, MyFoxDetroit.com reported. Wednesday, Peter Dabish surrendered at his attorney’s office. He is accused of beating and killing 23-year-old Diana DeMayo in his Fort Shelby Tower apartment in Detroit in March.

Sgt. Eren Stephens, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman, says 24-year-old Dabish was arrested at his lawyer’s office in downtown Detroit. He faces arraignment at 1 p.m. Thursday in the death of DeMayo from Novi, Mich.

Dabish’s father co-founded Powerhouse Gyms, but his son was apparently not involved in that business. Dabish was on the run for weeks. He’s been named in a warrant charging him with first-degree murder.

Edward DeMayo tells The Detroit News that his daughter was helping Dabish move into a downtown Detroit apartment when she was attacked March 11. He says she was pronounced brain dead at a hospital and later taken off life support. She sustained multiple blunt force trauma injuries to her head.

DeMayo’s family also told police Dabish had taunted them with obscene phone calls about a week before Diana’s death, the Detroit Free Press reported. Then, when she was in the hospital they reported receiving a call from someone asking if she was dead and Dabish got on the line yelling obscenities.

It happened again after she died, this time with a call inquiring about funeral arrangements before Dabish started yelling into the phone, the Free Press reported.

While this is a story of a horrible murder, there was a little creature caught in the middle of all of it. The victim’s beloved dog evidently stayed with its owner until the very end.

Diana loved the dog that she adopted from a Florida pound as a freshman at the University of Miami. The dog went everywhere with her and was with Diana in March when she was killed at the Detroit apartment of Peter Dabish.

“She was a dog lover to the end, and a people lover. Very bright, very beautiful, and I can hardly believe she’s gone,” said Linda DeMayo, the victim’s mother.

Diana’s mother was reached by phone from Florida. She is heartbroken, but relieved the dog is with Diana’s family.

Chun stood on stage and gave an emotional performance but the most remarkable thing is he sounded exactly like the superstar herself and, unlike some of her recent performances, was absolutely pitch perfect.

He might not have the diva looks or stage presence just yet but if Susan Boyle can undergo a transformation, anyone can.

The young star is already a massive hit on Youtube and is set to be Taiwan’s answer to Ms Boyle who won over online audiences worldwide with her version of Les Miserables I Dreamed A Dream.

Now Whitney Houston has cancelled some of her European shows due to an ‘illness’, she should give them the go ahead again as with Lin Yu Chun, who needs Whitney?

MEXICO CITY — “Pimp My Ride” and former “Survivor” producer Bruce Beresford-Redman was detained Thursday as a suspect in his wife’s death days after reporting her missing in the resort city of Cancun, a Mexican official said.

The body of Monica Beresford-Redman was found Thursday in a sewer at the swanky Moon Palace resort where the family was on vacation, according to Bello Rodriguez, the outgoing attorney general for Quintana Roo state, where Cancun is located.

Rodriguez said a security guard at the hotel saw the couple arguing Monday night and said Beresford-Redman tried to hit her.

Beresford-Redman had scratches on his neck and officials were conducting toxicology tests to determine whether he had consumed drugs, Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez left office later Thursday and his successor, Francisco Alor, said he would describe Beresford-Redman as a “person of interest” rather than a suspect, adding that several people in the hotel heard an argument in the couple’s room Monday night.

“He’s the initial focus of the investigation based on their alleged turbulent relationship,” Alor said by phone from the state capital of Chetumal.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Beresford-Redman told police Tuesday that his wife left the hotel to go shopping the previous day and never returned, said an official from the attorney general’s office who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media about the case.

“They weren’t lovey-dovey, at least when I saw them, and they didn’t smile a lot,” said Ratana Necth, 36, a nanny for a family in the Palos Verdes, Calif. neighborhood where the Beresford-Redman and their two child resided. Necth described the couple as nice and said they always seemed “on the go.”
