Ex-teacher Stephanie Ragusa pleads guilty to sex with teens

Tampa, Florida (CNN) — Former middle school math teacher Stephanie Ragusa was teary-eyed Monday as she pleaded guilty to having sex with two underage students.

Ragusa, 31, faces up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced on June 15.

She pleaded guilty to three counts of lewd and lascivious battery in a March 2008 case involving a 14-year-old boy.

She also pleaded guilty to two counts of having unlawful sex with a minor in an April 2008 case involving a 16-year-old student.

Prosecutor Rita Peters said Ragusa had intercourse with the 14-year-old on three occasions between October 2006 and May 2007. Evidence in that case included a phone conversation police recorded with the teen’s consent. During the phone call, Ragusa could be heard urging him to keep their encounters secret, Peters said.

Peters said the encounters with the other teen began when he was 15. They ended when she was arrested in April 2008 as she was leaving his home. Evidence in the case included DNA matches, several amorous letters Ragusa wrote and gifts she gave him, the prosecutor added. The gifts included a key chain with her initials on it.

Peters said investigators also found a will in Ragusa’s handwriting that named the teen as executor.

Shackled and dressed in an orange jumpsuit, Ragusa entered her guilty pleas just before a jury was to be picked at her trial.

Ragusa repeatedly glanced at her father, Ricardo Ragusa, as details of the charges were read aloud in court. Tears welled in her eyes, and she shrugged her shoulders, ducked her head and hid her face beneath a veil of long, dark brown hair.

Peters said outside the courtroom that she had spoken with the victims and their families, and they were “in full support of the resolution in these cases.”

“They were prepared to testify,” Peters added.

Ragusa has been in jail since her arrest, and defense attorney Robert Herce said she has spent more time behind bars than several other teachers in Hillsborough County, Florida, who have faced similar charges.

In shocking court papers obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, 1990s martial arts actor Steven Seagal is being sued for sexual harassment and illegal trafficking of females for sex.

The lawsuit was brought by his former personal assistant, Kayden Nguyen, who is a 23-year-old former model.

The legal documents say Segal “treated Ms. Nguyen as his sex toy.”

Nguyen is suing for sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment.

The document also claims that “Mr. Seagal has been keeping two young female Russian ‘Attendants’ on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

Nguyen claims that she was required “to watch as “Sasha” (Russian attendant) and Mr. Seagal performed sex acts on each other.”

Segal was working as a Reserve Deputy Chief of the Sheriff’s Office in the community of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, something he documented in his A & E reality TV show Steven Seagal: Lawman.

He used Craigslist to hire an executive/personal assistant who could also be on his reality show.

Nguyen was hired in Los Angeles, but then flown to New Orleans to live in Seagal’s house for the show.

On her first night of work, Seagal allegedly engaged in physical and sexual assault by “pushing his hands under her shirt and attemping to fondle her bare breast,” and “forcing her head against his bare chest.”

Then she claims the next morning things got even worse. He allegedly “forcibly held her legs apart.” Then “forced his hand down her pants…” The document goes into graphic detail that isn’t suitable for all audiences.

Then the suit alleges a third physical assault took place a few hours later, where “Seagal forcibly lifted Ms. Nguyen’s blouse, forced his head on her bare chest and attempted to suck her breasts and nipples. He stopped only when she ran.”

After only a few days of work, Nguyen left the house on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

Seagal, who practices Tibetan Buddhism, has six children from three different mothers. In addition Seagal plays the role of guardian to a Tibetan child, Yabshi Pan Rinzinwangmo. Rinzinwangmo, or “Renji”, who is the only child of the 10th Panchen Lama of Tibet. Renji studied in the United States at American University, and Seagal was her guardian and bodyguard.

Nguyen is suing for damages in excess of $1 million. She’s also calling for a jury trial.

He made $32 million in 2009, Forbes reports.

But reporter Lacey Rose tells us his Fox News contract is the least lucrative of his many projects from books to radio shows to merchandise.

He’s a regular empire, and knows it.

“I could give a flying crap about the political process,” he told Forbes. “We’re an entertainment company.”

$12 million from book sales from a Simon & Schuster co-venture “typically reserved for authors like Stephen King.”
