Lane Bryant had been set to launch its campaign for Cacique, its new lingerie line, during “Dancing With the Stars.”

ABC says plus size retailer Lane Bryant’s claims that the network refused to air a commercial featuring a model in lingerie are no more than a fabricated publicity stunt.

Following a war of words where the retailer claimed the network was discriminating against full figured women by refusing to air the lingerie commercial, ABC issued a statement saying they did not treat Lane Bryant any differently than another advertiser.

“Their statements are not true,” the statement said. “The ad was accepted. Lane Bryant was treated absolutely no differently than any advertiser for the same product. We were willing to accommodate them, but they chose to seek publicity instead.”

But according to Lane Bryant, the Disney-owned network refused to air the brand’s lingerie ad during its hit show “Dancing with the Stars,” saying it bared too much cleavage, an insider said.

And Lane Bryant thinks the net’s executives are a bunch of prejudiced boobs.

“The cleavage of the plus-size models, they said, was excessive, and we don’t think that’s the case,” said the source. “It certainly appears to be discrimination against full-sized women.”

Lane Bryant had been set to launch its campaign for Cacique, its new lingerie line, during “Dancing” this week.

After the ad was pulled, the company posted the too-sexy-for-TV spot on its Web site yesterday.

In it, a pleasantly plump model gracefully shows off her curves before the camera in a slew of sexy poses.

“Mom always said beauty is skin deep,” a voice-over says. “Somehow, I don’t think this is what Mom had in mind.”

Lane Bryant said Fox, too, had originally balked at showing the ad on “American Idol.”

But a Lane Bryant insider noticed that a sexy Victoria’s Secret lingerie spot starring a skinny model had been slotted for “Idol” Tuesday night and complained about a double standard. That caused Fox to change its tune, the source said.

“They wouldn’t run the ad, but have you seen the Victoria’s Secret spots? If you saw the Victoria’s Secret spot and our spot, you’d see nothing different,” the source added.

Fox bristled at the notion it gave Lane Bryant a hard time, saying it is set to air the ad during Wednesday’s “American Idol.”

Ten people are reported dead so far in the wake of today’s severe storms and tornadoes that swept across Mississippi and Louisiana.

A total of 21 injured residents so far have been transported from the Yazoo City area to Jackson-area hospitals; four of those were airlifted by helicopter to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Flynn said.

“We are anticipating more patients being admitted,” said Tena McKenzie, UMC spokeswoman.

Four adult patients were in critical condition and one was in stable condition. Two children were in stable condition, McKenzie said.

Gov. Haley Barbour ordered the Mississippi National Guard to help local officials with emergency response.

Barbour has been touring the damaged areas in a National Guard helicopter,
said Jeff Rent, spokesman for the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

American Red Cross workers have also been dispatched to affected areas, Rent
said.

In Warren County, at least 30 homes were rendered uninhabitable by the storms, Rent said. Damage reports are still coming from there and other areas, he said.

Barbour now has declared 17 counties as states of emergency.

Barbour spoke at an impromptu news conference in Yazoo City, his hometown
and the epicenter of the storm’s damage.

Two deaths have been confirmed in Yazoo City and as many as five have been
reported, but are unconfirmed, in the Crossroads/Millsprings community near
the north Mississippi town of Weir.

Yazoo County and city fire departments are continuing search and rescue
operations throughout the northern and eastern parts of the county.

“We still have people trapped in houses and cars,” Barbour said from in
front of Ribeye Steakhouse off U.S. 49. The governor became teary describing
the damage to Yazoo City.

“It reminds me of (Hurricane) Katrina,” he said.

The tornado’s path of destruction appears to be several miles wide.

A heroic homeless man, stabbed after saving a Queens woman from a knife-wielding attacker, lay dying in a pool of blood for more than an hour as nearly 25 people indifferently strolled past him, a shocking surveillance video obtained by The Post reveals.

Some of the passers-by paused to stare at Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax last Sunday morning and others leaned down to look at his face.

He had jumped to the aid of a woman attacked on 144th Street at 88th Road in Jamaica at 5:40 a.m., was stabbed several times in the chest and collapsed as he chased his assailant.

In the wake of the bloodshed, a man came out of a nearby building and chillingly took a cellphone photo of the victim before leaving. And in several instances, pairs of people gawked at Tale-Yax without doing anything.

Later, another man stopped, leaned over and vigorously shook Tale-Yax’s body. After lifting the victim’s head and body to reveal a pool of blood, he also walked off.

Not until some 15 minutes after he was shaken by the pedestrian — more than an hour and 20 minutes after the victim collapsed — did firefighters finally arrive and discover that Tale-Yax, 31, had died.
